our tangerine tree

earlier this week kyle, sage and i drove to a local christmas tree farm to pick out a tree for our little home. the farm was not very far from where we live, and as we pulled into the entrance, an older man with a heavy white beard greeted us. he was standing under a canopy that was covering freshly made pine wreaths that smelled like absolute winter magic. as we walked to him, i felt like i was in yoga class again because i couldn't help but take deep breaths in. there was intention behind my inhales, as my old teacher would say. i wanted to smell all that goodness, i just couldn't help myself, and i was hoping sage was enjoying the smells of winter too.

the man with the white beard was indeed a friendly one. once we reached him, he mentioned the different trees he had and the prices and then gave us our tools. from there we were set free into what seemed to be rolling hill after rolling hill of trees to pick from. the trees ranged from big ones that have been around for many years to little seedlings that have been planted recently. the rows went on and on and there was a lot for kyle and i to see and for sage to touch and explore.

finally committing to our beauty was tough. but we both liked it once we walked upon it and it just seemed like the right fit. it's a white fur. it stands about seven feet tall and kyle thinks that it's probably about eight years old. it has soft needles that smell like tangerines when you rub your fingers on them. this part is what i love the most.
