The past few days here have been cold and grey. And while I try hard to embrace the different seasons that grace these parts, I'm finding myself anxious for the start of spring. I'm just ready for a change in temperature. I'm ready to pack our coats away again in the closet.
...
This is not only our first winter stay on a farm (and in a barn), but this is Kyle's first winter season as a farmer. It has been really interesting on my end watching him manage all he has to in this cold weather. I've grown accustom to making sure he has a clean pair of long johns in the morning and a dry pair of gloves to wear. Layering up is definitely very important because these Farmers still work despite the harsh weather! I have learned that they find warmth in getting what they need done in barns and in green houses. In Kyle's case, he does a lot of work in a high tunnel- which resembles a gigantic, rectangular tent. He has been growing plants in this high tunnel all winter long, and once spring arrives he will transfer them into the main garden. He puts a lot of love into these little baby veggies. I mean they even get blankets put over them at night just in case temperatures get too low in their tent home! It's all very cute, I have to say.

aside from my nannying jobs and picture taking, Sage and I have been reading books and building with legos to pass the time on these cold, cold days. This season has made me appreciate this home of ours and how it keeps us warm and safe. I'm able to make yummy, wintertime soups in our little kitchen. Just yesterday- I was peeling off the skins of tomatoes we had frozen from the garden- and realized I was touching a bit of summer. Last summer, that is. Oh and that made me happy.
