heavy heart
Like so many other people Newton, Connecticut has been on my mind. The tragic event that occurred there last friday was horrific and sad. Just so sad. I can't begin to imagine the deep, gut-wrenching grief the victims' families are feeling right now. Tears flood my eyes when I think of them and of the adults and innocent young children who lost their precious lives so violently friday morning.
This event, sadly like the many others before it, make us remember that among the beauty in this world, there is also darkness. An ugly darkness filled with evil acts of violence and hatred and incomprehensible feelings of sadness and pain. Our world can be such an ugly place.
I do feel, however, that human beings have a special ability to find ways to be resilient in times when their hearts are completely broken and hurting more deeply than they knew possible. Somehow humans find a way to move forward and find contentment.
It will take time. A lot of time.
And while I can't relate to the emotional obstacles ahead for all those effected, as I haven't felt pain like that in my life, I hope they can somehow find peace within themselves and feel happiness again. I hope they find the support they need to get through this dark time.
All my love goes to you, Connecticut. Your babies and teachers will never be forgotten.
